I recently partnered with L’Artisan Muse in Atlanta, GA to release a signature fragrance called “Eternal 9:16” The fragrance is inspired by a mother’s love: eternal, everlasting, and ever-pure ❤️ Below I’m sharing more on how Eternal 9:16 came to be, how it smells, and how I currently use it.
How the story of Eternal 9:16 Began:
On a day I was needing to spend time with myself, treat myself kindly, and set my spirit right, I took a walk along the Atlanta belt line and stumbled upon a beautiful apothecary, and met two beautiful ladies (November Nichols, owner, and Faloune) who took their time helping me to explore and create a custom fragrance that spoke to me. After having such a beautiful experience there, I came back and brought my sister for her birthday.
Months later, the apothecary moved to a new location and opened its doors as L’Artisan Muse in the Westside Provisions District. Again, I had the opportunity to commune with the graceful spirits who make up the L’Artisan Muse team, and came to a mutual decision to collaborate on a fragrance that would encompass my personal experience with immense , eternal love, and my journey as a new mom navigating life without my own.
After setting that intention, Eternal 9:16 was birthed, expertly crafted by L’Artisan Muse with inspiration from my story.
What’s in a Name?
After a few days of spending time with this beautiful fragrance, I decided to gift it with the moniker “Eternal 9:16” Eternal, to signify the everlasting, never ending flow of energy that love is. How it never dies, is felt throughout space and time, and is the purest form of care my mother gave to me, and I give to my own daughter. The number 9, which symbolizes the month of September, is the month both my mother and daughter were born ( just a day apart). The number 16 marks the year 2016, when my mother ascended from her physical body after battling cancer, and my daughter was born.
What Eternal 9:16 Means to Me:
This fragrance, Eternal 9:16 , is an opportunity to honor my mother and her love, as well as the love of all mothers for their children. It’s a beautiful part of my journey of healing from tragedy and it’s also a gift that captures the essence of the love I felt, and the love I hope to give.
What it Smells Like:
The Notes in Eternal 9:16 are:
▪️Lavender ( lavender was one of my mom’s favorite scents. It’s also calming and relaxing. During my mother’s illness, I used it to prepare her linens at home..I’d put a drop on her pillow, and in the corners of the hospital rooms she’d stay in, as a way to bring her comfort and also encourage a positive environment for the nurses and doctors as they would enter. After she transitioned, the smell of lavender brought back soooo many emotions for me and I began to develop a strong dislike for it. I would avoid it purposely, whenever I could. While determining the notes for the fragrance, Faloune, part of the L’Artisan Muse team, tested each individually under my nose and the lavender brought back all those feelings. I wanted to hate it but I loved it in the blend. Thankfully, I had the opportunity to embrace it and reassign positivity to the memories surrounding it.
▪️Tonka ( tonka bean)
▪️Jasmine
▪️Black pepper
Uses:
Eternal 9:16 is unisex and is made from high quality fragrances alongside avocado and coconut oils.
I get tons of compliments when I wear Eternal 9:16 on my body, but I also love diffusing it in my home. It’s a cozy scent , inviting and perfect for the fall.
