Recently, I got the opportunity to try out Cam Home Technologies’ Blackbox S. It’s a sleek, inconspicuous box that houses a 1080P camera that rotates 355° horizontally and 150° vertically. The camera can be easily controlled from the accompanying app. From the app you can play video, manipulate the direction of the lens, share a video stream with family and friends, take a photograph and speak through the camera. Aside from its stellar functioning, the Blackbox S fits aesthetically into any space.
Below are 4 of my favorite ways to use the CamHome Blackbox S:
Baby’s Room or Nursery
Multitasking is must for new parents, a sleeping baby creates the perfect opportunity to catch up on household chores, work, or a little much needed quiet time. Baby monitors that only allow you to hear what’s going on, are just not enough for parents who need complete peace of mind to know that their child is ok. The Blackbox S allows parents/caregivers to see what’s going on, take pics and speak or sing to their little one while they are out of reach.
Monitoring Care Providers
During my mother’s battle with cancer, I was her caregiver and had to enlist the help of nurses and home care providers while I was away. Having the CamHome Blackbox S during that time, would have provided me with a lot more peace of mind. Aside from having the ability to monitor what the home care workers were doing, I would’ve loved to be able to speak to my mom through the camera during the day when she was unable to use a cell phone.
Monitoring Teens
The Blackbox S is great for families with school aged teens who stay home by themselves before or after school. Typical school hours never seem to coincide with the 9 to 5 work schedule of some parents. Kids either leave in the morning before the parents, or get dropped off before parents clock out. Having the CamHome Blackbox S can add that extra measure of security for parents with latch key kids, allowing them to monitor children until their arrival.
Positioned to View Front, Back, or Side Door Entries
Although the camera housing is not constructed to withstand weather/water damage that can occur from being outside, it is still useful in monitoring some exteriors of your home. I found it helpful to place the Blackbox S near a window that has a view of anyone approaching your home from key entry points. The camera’s motion sensor can provide alerts when something moves across its view. Even in the safest neighborhoods, crime can become an issue. Deliveries left on front porches can attract thieves and lead to having mail stolen. The Blackbox S would serve as a useful device in recovering stolen property. Also, indicating that a home is under surveillance, (by posted placards and yard signage) can act as a deterrent against would be thieves and intruders.
The Blackbox S makes an excellent gift for new parents, home owners, and anyone who wants the peace of mind of having added security. Use the coupon code “cam20” to receive 20% off your purchase of the CamHome Blackbox S!
