I’m super excited to share that in just a few short weeks, my daughter Aven will get to take her first trip to the beach! I’ve been telling her about it and showing her pictures, but nothing compares to actually experiencing it.
I was nervous about taking her to the beach earlier this year, because she had never been in a large body of water. I had no idea how she would react to it and I suspected she might be uncomfortable. Fortunately, we’ve had the opportunity to prepare for this big moment with Aqua-Tots Swim Schools!
Aqua-Tots Swim Schools
Aven takes group swimming lessons two days a week at our local Aqua -Tots Swim School. When we first started, she was very nervous about it. After about her fourth lesson, the nerves significantly subsided. Now, a few months in, Aven is completely comfortable in the water. She is always super excited to get in the pool!
Although the beach will be a bit different, I’m confident that my daughter is now comfortable in the water. This should make beach swimming more fun for the both of us.
In our Mommy and Me swim lessons, we work on boundaries. Aven knows to wait for permission to enter and exit the water. She knows where to turn for safety and how to monkey walk along the side of the pool to get to the steps. She also knows that I will be there to hold her and assist her.
In addition to knowing some boundaries, Aven knows what it feels like to be underwater. She knows to kick her feet and has become more comfortable with floating on her back.
At the beach, sand, waves and seeing fish in the water, will definitely be a new and unexpected experience. I think it will be great though, and Aven will love it! I feel awesome knowing that we’ve been preparing for this moment with our Aqua-Tots Swim Lessons.
