As a parent, finding time to get a little “Me-Time” can be difficult. Although it can be difficult, it’s not impossible. Below, I’ve included 5 ways you can create some much-needed “Me-Time”.
Take Advantage of Your “Me-Time” With a Streaming Service:
Every now and then I’ll find a great TV show to get into. It doesn’t happen very often, but when it does, I’m hooked. Signing up for a streaming service like SHOWTIME, gives you more flexibility when using your “Me-Time” to catch up on the latest movies and TV. Now that I’m a mom, finding the time to plop down in front of the television at a specific time and wait for “my show” to come on, is unrealistic. I have to get it in where I can fit it in, which is why I’m loving the SHOWTIME streaming service.
During my “Me-Time”, I can log in and catch live TV or watch my favorites On-Demand, on any of my devices. There are no commercials and I don’t have to have cable service to enjoy TV, on my time. I can download shows like my new favorite SHOWTIME series, “The Chi” and watch them offline while I’m on the go or while my daughter is taking a nap.
More about “The CHI”:
Trust me, you do not want to miss this series! The Chi is an urban coming of age drama that takes place in one of the Mid West’s greatest landscapes….Chicago. It’s well written plot unravels, connecting the lives of several members of the community, highlighting their connectivity through love, growth, responsibility, violence, opportunity, and the lack of.
A young man, Emmett, struggles to embrace independence and fatherhood under the watchful eye of his mother. A young boy, Kevin, commits to “The Wiz”, a school play, to get closer to the young object of his affection, amid his friends’ mockery. An older man, Ronnie, seeks answers following the murder of his son, while trying to earn redemption from the woman he loves. A young chef, Brandon, works his way up the ladder while facing a non supportive parent, with a smile on his face, and a fast talking street kid, Coogie, finds himself in the middle of a murder investigation.
Filled with complex and entertaining connecting stories, The Chi takes the viewer on a culture tour of life in “The Chi”, to the musical soundtrack of the streets.

Include Your Child in “Me-Time” Activities They Can Participate In:
I love to and need to get exercise. Going to the gym all the time doesn’t really work for me because I’d have to find a sitter. So, I put my daughter in her stroller and we take walks at the park, lake, or even the mall. Doing something for you, doesn’t have to mean doing it alone. Bringing along snacks, a book, and a toy should help to keep your little occupied.
Don’t Be Afraid to Ask for Help:
This is a hard one for me, but it’s important to realize that you can’t do everything by yourself. Sometimes, you have to reach out to a trusted friend, family member, or sitter to watch over your little one(s) while you take the opportunity to meet your needs.
Wake Up An Hour or Two Earlier:
Many of the world’s most successful people make a habit of waking up early in the morning. You can use this “Me-Time” for self-care or accomplishing any necessary tasks. This habit comes in handy especially when you’re a parent and can’t seem to get much done while the kids are awake. Even one hour before your kid(s) wake up, can give you the opportunity to have a cup of coffee, catch up on “The Chi”, or get some exercise in peace. Keep in mind though, that it’s probably best to stick with a consistent bedtime and get between 8-10 hours of sleep.
Take Advantage of Some of Your Child’s Playtime:
Try allowing your child to play independently in a safe environment, while you fit in 15 minutes or so to do something you want to do for you. I like putting a few age appropriate toys and books in a large bucket for my daughter. She explores the contents on her own, and is usually entertained and surprised by whatever she pulls out next.
Hopefully these ideas will help you to create some much-needed “Me-Time” in your schedule!
