Right now, I am doing my most important work, as a parent. I am molding and influencing another human being to become her best self and see the world as a place with endless possibilities. As a parent, I feel an immense responsibility to pour into my child all that I can, in order to help her become the best she can be. I do that by devoting to her, my time, attention, and resources. She is my greatest investment, and I expect a bountiful return.
We recently had the pleasure of visiting a local Christmas Village in our city. I sipped hot coco. Aven played with the decorations and stood in awe of a gigantic Christmas tree. Then, I proceeded to chase after her around the tree, lol! We read, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, met Santa, and visited shops around the village selling beautiful handmade toys, food and other items. The smile on her face tells it all. She had a blast!
I so enjoy investing in my daughter’s happiness by taking her to new places and introducing her to experiences that make her light up. I also appreciate the ability to be fully present and participatory in these moments. When you have peace of mind about the future, it allows you to live more fully in the present, without worry, fears, or doubts. Making smart investments can help provide that peace of mind. Check out Vanguard’s stats from the “Where Investors Belong” survey:
- Vanguard clients are 24% more likely to feel involved with their kids compared with clients of other investment firms
and
- Vanguard clients spend 6 more hours per week, on average, with their kids compared with clients of other investment firms.
Where Investors Belong
The Where Investors Belong survey was conducted by market research firm Kelton Global in 2016. It polled 1,000 Vanguard clients and compared them with 1,000 clients of other investment firms. All differences between Vanguard clients and clients of other investment firms are statistically significant at the 95% confidence level. The parental stat refers to clients with children of any age who provided the number of hours per week they typically spend with their children or who, compared to other people they may know, believe to be more involved in their child’s life. . The experiences of these Vanguard clients may not be representative of the experience of other Vanguard clients and aren’t a guarantee of future investment performance or success.
Trusting an investment firm like Vanguard, can take the stress out of the maintenance and management of your own investments and frees you up to focus on (and invest in) the most important things like spending quality time with your family.
Here are a few reasons why I am investing in my daughter:
- I want to prepare her as much as I can, to thrive in this world.
- It is my hope, that she will become loving, compassionate, and kind.
- I want her to feel loved and empowered and be confident.
- So that she feels free to pursue her passions and interests fearlessly.
- I want her to understand the example I am setting, and eventually become a great mom to her children.
- One day she may help care for me, and I want her to be as equipped as possible.
- It is what I feel she deserves.
It’s so important to make smart investments. Like with money, I want the investments I am making with my daughter, to yield amazing results. Investing in my family, and knowing I’m leaving a strong, economic legacy by making smart financial investments, is very important to me. It was also important to my mother, and I hope that by continuing in this tradition, it will be just as important to my daughter, her future children, and the generations after.
